Deals Drive Down Kindred Employment

Strange Tony,

Kindred Healthcare had 2,100 employees in Louisville, Kentucky in December 2017 when it announced its deal with Humana and two financial rapscallions to carve up the company.  Buyers said it would be unlikely that the local workforce would be impacted

As of December 2020 Kindred Healthcare had 1,185 employees in the Louisville area, a 44% reduction.  That's the portion of the company Humana did not buy.

Oddly, there is no employment data for Kindred at Home in Louisville, Atlanta (Gentiva) or Mooresville (Curo Healthcare).  Humana reported an increase of 40,000 employees after buying out its KAH rapscallion partners.  That number should be at the top of any employment list.  It is missing.

Our local Kindred Hospice experienced a 40% headcount reduction after Humana et al bought us.  That made Kindred at Home CEO David Causby's holdings far more valuable.   Yes, he profited handsomely from screwing over employees.

We are for sale again.  I don't think we can survive another greedy owner that partners with self-dealing executives.  Employees lose again.

I have never worked for a company so poorly organized and ran! They constantly mess up on your paycheck and either don’t pay you correctly or change how you are supposed to be paid. Kindred does not care about their employees or the patients. To them, the patients are nothing short of dollar signs. There is no consistency and the staff turn over rate is extremely high. Nurses rarely make it past 6 months. They will have you driving all over the country and pay no attention to who is being scheduled to who or where. This whole company should just close their doors.

    Pros
Even the pros, if there were any, wouldn’t compensate for how many cons, there were!

    Cons
Rarely get a lunch, no consistency, raises are promised but never actually given, last minute scheduling, the coverage area is extreme, not enough time to complete your work during the work day.

Lack of empathy with workers, only managers friend are able to get better positions, poor office organizations, no team work from office and managers staff, around 25 pts for nurse even when they say will be Max 16. 8-10 pts daily for HHA,

    Pros
CM make own schedule, no weekends

    Cons

Many, many, many Vice Presidents and very top heavy company. While they send us corporate emails we have no time to read them. At least 60% of the work is unpaid for workers in the field. I have had two performance reviews in six years. It is all done now electronically.

    Pros
They pay on time. With six years with the company I now receive a month of leave time.

    Cons
Underpaid for visits only, No advancement for an OT, They removed our salaries but we are dependent upon how many referrals our account executives obtain, 60% of work is unpaid
